Boys Junior Adventurer Camp 2025

Junior Adventurer Camp – Gallery Now Live!

From June 23rd to June 27th, a group of elementary school boys spent the week hiking, exploring, and enjoying the great outdoors.

They covered more than 15 miles of trails, built boats to float down the creek, hiked all the way to Lizard Rock, and spent hours playing and exploring in the water.

The boys caught bugs and water skaters, tried to catch lizards, sketched local plants and birds, introduced to the Mojave Desert Tortoise, and even tracked down the acorn woodpecker.

From June 23rd to June 27th, a group of adventurous elementary school girls joined our POA teacher, Emma Grayson , for an unforgettable week in the great outdoors!

The girls explored a variety of hikes around the local area, went creeking, sketched native plants and birds, and built confidence as they overcame new challenges.

They learned to read maps, use a compass, rock climb, and practice wilderness survival skills—all while building great friendships.

Our New Home

Pacific Oaks Campus Location

We are happy to announce our location for the 2025-2026 school year: 2280 Antonio Ave, Camarillo, CA 93010.

We have chosen to rent the Church of the Nazarene campus at this address as the starting location for Pacific Oaks. The site includes 10 classrooms, a dedicated space for Mass, a library, a music room, and a theater.

Located just one hour west of Los Angeles, Pacific Oaks is centrally positioned among the 100 families who have expressed interest in the school. It’s within walking distance of parks, hiking trails, gymnasiums, and the Camarillo Library.

Next Steps

Camarillo City Hall has indicated that the site will require updates to ensure the campus is up to code before we can open our doors. We expect to receive a detailed list of the necessary improvements by mid-April. Renovations are already underway, including work on the southern portion of the main building and new flooring on the second level.

We are grateful for the warm welcome and continued support from the pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, James O’Connell, and his wife, Lindsey, as we move toward this exciting milestone.

Connie is a prominent figure in the American conservative movement. She has served as executive vice-president of the Free Congress Foundation and chaired Ronald Reagan's Family Policy Advisory Board. She is the author of Blackboard Tyranny and her newest book, Monastery and High Cross.

The evening was a great opportunity to engage with a thought leader in education and family life and to meet like-minded Pacific Oaks Academy families.

We’re thrilled to announce the success of our very first event, where we took a dive into the mission and vision of Pacific Oaks Academy. Led by James Royals, President of the Board, the talk offered parents an insightful breakdown of the school's mission.

James shared how our mission is about more than just academic excellence—it’s about assisting parents in the spiritual, academic and physical education of their children, kindling in students a desire to live Christian virtues so that graduates are prepared to influence their personal and professional communities.

The Crest

The crest is an important part of our school. It incorporates several inspirations. At the top of the crest in Latin is the school's motto: go into the whole world. In the foreground is the Camarillo White Horse, a native breed started by Adolfo Camarillo. This animal is our mascot because of its local origin, beauty and rich history.

The image of Pleasant Valley and the mountains surrounding Camarillo captures the unique beauty of the local area. It presents the mountains, farm fields and sky the way no other place in the world does.

Placed in the background of the crest is a simple donkey on the mountain tops. This animal is an homage to the beast of burden which carried the Blessed Virgin and Our Lord, led by St Joseph, to Bethlehem as well as on the flight into Egypt. A simple creature being led - oftentimes where it cannot see - to conduct humble work with great significance for the salvation of souls. We know that different renderings of the crest will allow the donkey to be seen and others will have insufficient detail to show it. Even this aspect is important as we strive to “do and disappear” similarly to the way the donkey's master, St Joseph, led the Holy Family then quietly exited the Gospels.

The Motto

Our motto is “Euntes in Mundum Universum.” Our Lord spoke these words to the Apostles to “go into the whole world.” They come from the Gospel of Mark 16:15 after the Resurrection and just prior to the Ascension. They are addressed to each Christian. Pope St John Paul II commented on our Lord’s command that “It is not enough to discover Christ - you must bring Him to others!”

We draw on these words because we want our graduates to go into the whole world. We desire God’s will for them, wherever that may lead them in academic, professional and vocational pursuits. Inspired by Our Lord's words we understand the urgency and magnitude of this mission.

Our commitment to this motto inspires us to cultivate a learning environment that empowers our students spiritually, academically and physically. As we assist parents in educating their children, we encourage every child to embrace the adventure of following God’s plan wherever it takes them.
