POA Speaker Series

PACIFIC OAKS & WALNUT GROVE

WELCOME ANA SAMUEL FROM CANAVOX

Saturday, April 18, 2026 | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Join Pacific Oaks and Walnut Grove to hear from Ana Samuel, Ph.D., Academic Director at CanaVox. Dr. Samuel will explore the cultural and ethical challenges facing parents and children today, drawing from CanaVox's new book, Courageous Conversations, and sharing how embracing truth, love, and natural law can lead to a flourishing life for people of any faith.

Ana Samuel, Ph.D. is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Notre Dame, where she completed doctoral work on the political theory and sexual ethics of Montesquieu. She was the first executive director of the Witherspoon Institute at its foundation in 2003. She edited No Differences? How Children in Same-Sex Households Fare and directed the development of the New Family Structures Studies website. In 2013, she helped to launch CanaVox, where she continues to oversee the academic content of the organization and ongoing education of the State Leaders. With their help, she develops the CanaVox reading lists in English and Spanish, and ensures that the articles they promote meet high academic standards, conform to our natural law principles and cheer points, and have heart. Every summer, she enjoys teaching the dialogues of Plato and Aristotle’s moral philosophy to high school students for the Witherspoon Institute’s summer seminars.

We hope to see you at Pacific Oaks for this event.

Learn more about CanaVox:

CanaVox uses organized study groups to bring academic research on marriage, family, and sexual integrity to local communities across the United States and internationally. As an interfaith initiative, CanaVox helps people of all faiths form reading groups where they gain a deeper understanding of the truth about human sexuality, and it provides them with the vocabulary to articulate the truth with compassion and clarity. The CanaVox reading groups’ syllabi include articles and writings based on natural law, social science, biology, philosophy and practical wisdom. These materials are carefully selected to encourage high-level discussions in which participants learn and talk about academic research and read inspiring stories about the topics we cover in the following program areas:

  • CanaVox Pro: Our main syllabus for women and men
  • CanaVox YoungPro: For recent college graduates and young professionals
  • CanaVox Varsity: For college students and recent graduates
  • CanaVox Junior Varsity (JV): For middle- and high-school students
